
Each full week of the spring season, BoCoPreps will highlight 10 teams and 10 athletes that had exceptional performances. While our staff will utilize multiple avenues to compile these lists, readers are encouraged to submit nominations to our email (results@bocopreps.com).

Broomfield baseball: The defending Class 5A champs opened the spring with wins over Silver Creek and 4A No. 7 Mullen. Senior Luke Blackmon has a grand slam and five RBIs in five plate appearances.

Broomfield girls track and field: The Eagles finished second at the Coyote/Panther Invite at Centaurus High School over the weekend. Kenna Holiday won the 400-meter dash, Sarah Collins claimed the high jump and the Eagles also won the 4×200 relay.
Dawson girls soccer: The defending Class 2A champions opened the spring with a 6-1 victory over Belleview Christian Thursday. Senior Julie Bozzay and freshman Olivia Rush each had tallied five points, scoring twice to go along with an assist.
Fairview boys swimming: The Knights beat Legacy in a dual last Wednesday, then placed third at the Lightning Invite Saturday. Junior Layton Sealman already has three wins on the year.
Jefferson Academy girls soccer: The Class 3A No. 3 Jaguars scored 18 times in two shutout wins last week.
Legacy boys swimming: The Lightning won their own eight-team invitational Saturday. Coming into this week, they have six of the state’s fastest times. Senior Tegan Barrier (50 and 100 freestyle) holds two of them.
Lyons baseball: Wyatt Fitzgerald drove in a pair and stole three bases in an 8-4 opening-season win over Flatirons Academy on Saturday. Wyatt Waters had 13 strikeouts in the victory.
Niwot boys volleyball: Niwot’s new program opened its tenure with wins over Riverdale Ridge and Mountain View last week. Sophomore Jenu Ngialah leads the team with 15 kills.

Niwot track and field: Both the boys and girls won at the St. Vrain RE-1J District meet Friday. Ashlenn Baca (100 and 300-meter hurdles) and Margaret Gillett (100 and 200 dash) each took first in a pair of events on the girls’ side. Jeremy Gillett won the 3,200 on the boys’.
Prospect Ridge Academy girls soccer: The 3A No. 5 Miners opened the spring with shutout wins over DSST: Byers and TCA. Elise Bishop already has four goals on the year.

Quinn Bernthal, Fairview girls tennis: The junior beat Niwot’s Alys Pop 6-2, 6-2 last week to improve to 2-0 on the season. Bernthal finished runner-up to former Boulder standout Lily Chitambar last season.
Derek Duplechin, Monarch boys lacrosse: After two games last week, the senior is ranked fourth in the state in goals (seven), seventh in points (10).
Emilee Harding, Jefferson Academy track and field: Harding won the 100-meter hurdles at the Coyote/Panther Invite over the weekend. Her time of 16.09 seconds is third-best in the state, per MileSplit.
Allie Hartman, Mead girls lacrosse: The senior recorded a hat trick in the program’s inaugural game Thursday. The Class 4A eighth-ranked Mavericks, though, lost to No. 1 Castle View, 7-6.

Chrisly Kelly-Cannon, Jefferson Academy boys track and field: Kelly-Cannon’s time of 10.71 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the Coyote/Panther Invite is the top time in the state, per MileSplit. His long jump of 21 feet, 10 inches is fifth.
Avery Marr, Prospect Ridge Academy girls track and field: The junior won the mile at the Berthoud Max Marr Invitational Friday. Her time of 5:07.40 is the fastest time in Class 3A by 21 seconds, per MileSplit.
Jacob Moats, Longmont baseball: The senior threw a one-hitter in a season-opening 2-0 win over Frederick. He struck out 11 and walked three.
Charlie O’Brien, Erie boys lacrosse: He had four goals and an assist in the opener as the Class 4A No. 2 Tigers beat Fairview 9-4.
Giorgio Spensieri, Twin Peaks track and field: The senior’s 400-meter dash time of 51.20 seconds at the St. Vrain RE-1J District meet is ranked fifth in the state.
Tiffany Yie, Niwot girls soccer: The senior scored in overtime Thursday, lifting the 4A No. 9 Cougars past Centaurus.
