Greysen Carter, Sr, Fairview: On 55% shooting, and 65% from inside the perimeter, the Class 5A Front Range League player of the year averaged 21.9 points per game, which is fourth in the class. The Vanderbilt baseball commit had 10 games with 20-plus points and also averaged 9.2 boards per game. He finished his career with 1,052 points and 466 rebounds.

Elijah Knudsen, Jr., Mead: The 5-foot-10 guard, who was named CHSAA’s Class 4A player of the year, scored a career-best 45 points in a second-round win over Holy Family. He then scored 30 in the finals win over Montrose. On the year, Knudsen ticked in at 19.3 PPG while averaging 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals. He shot 37% from 3, with 59 makes.

Eddie Kurjak, Sr., Longmont: The senior, “Eddie the Eagle”, averaged 18.3 points per game and 8.6 boards. The Colorado Mesa commit, who was also a staunch defender, led the Trojans to the 4A Final Four before they were ousted by Montrose. He had six double-doubles this season.

Andrew Scott, Jr., Silver Creek: Scott is a gifted 3-point shooter, hitting 41 of his 99 attempts (41%) this season. The junior averaged 15.8 points and 5.9 boards, helping lead Silver Creek to a 10-4 record and a postseason berth in its first season in 5A. He was first-team in the 5A/4A NCAC and an honorable mention on the 5A list.

James Shiers, Jr., Mead: Shiers scored 11.4 points per game and averaged 9.6 boards, contributing huge in Mead’s eventual 4A state title run. A standout rim protector, he also had 73 blocks in 18 games, which was the second-most in the state. He was named all-second team in 4A.

Coach of the year — Darin Reese, Mead: Unfinished business, now finished. After Mead was robbed of a chance to win the state title due to a pandemic shutdown last year, Reese guided a team that lost numerous senior leaders to the 4A title.


Drake Arthur, Sr., Boulder: Arthur led Boulder with 15.4 points per game to go along with his 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.8 assists. The Panthers struggled with injuries and had their season end in quarantine, but Arthur provided a shining takeaway. He was named all-conference first team in the Front Range League, and was an honorable mention in 5A.

Izayah Elize, Sr., Frederick: Elize led Frederick to a 10-5 record with 16 points per game. His game flashed with electrifying dunks and game-winning buckets. His coach said he also tied the school record for 3-point percentage, going 24-for-61 (39%). He was named first-team in the 4A/3A Longs Peak League.

Kayan Hargrave, Jr., Erie: Hargrave, an all-NCAC first team player, led the Tigers to the second round of the 4A postseason with 13.3 points per game on a studly 58% shooting. He also hit 73% from the free throw line and averaged 4.4 boards and 1.6 steals.

Gavin Poxson, Sr., Legacy: Poxson scored 17.3 points per game on an impressive 55% clip. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals as he helped lead the Lightning to an 8-6 record. This follows Legacy’s 8-16 2019 record. Poxson was named all-conference first team in the Front Range League and an honorable mention in 5A.

Jackson Ward, Sr., Holy Family: Ward led Holy Family with 13.4 points per game on 60% shooting. He also averaged 8.4 boards while leading the inexperienced Tigers to the second round of the 4A postseason. He was first-team in the NCAC and an honorable mention in 4A.
