MEAD — After capturing their first state title as a team since the school opened in 2009, the Mead boys basketball team are getting the royal treatment they deserve on Friday afternoon as the school and town officials will be on hand for a parade and ceremony, even dedicating April 2 as Mead Basketball Day.

Members of the community are encouraged to attend the parade at noon, which will trek down Road 28 and County Road 7 while finishing up at the south entrance to the school. Afterwards, up to 10 invited guests per player will be able to join the team at the Mead High football field where they will be honored with their championship banner and a presentation by town officials.

Community members are invited to either park in the high school main parking lot and walk to a position on County Road 7 to view the parade, or they can park their cars on either side of County Road 7. Participants are asked to stay in family groups, social distance from other family groups, and wear a mask during the parade. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the event by 11:30 a.m. to find their position along County Road 7.
