There are great performances, and then there are next-level, do-everything-on-the-biggest-stage efforts which will be remembered for quite a long time.
Mead High’s Elijah Knudsen had one of the latter on Thursday night as the Mavericks hosted rival Holy Family in a Class 4A Sweet 16 game at MHS.
In a 71-45 win over a very capable Tigers team, Knudsen practically couldn’t miss. He scored 30 points in the first half and 45 overall, knocking down 3-pointer after 3-pointer and carrying the Mavericks on his back to Monday’s next round. In all, he cashed in 10 3s in the career-best performance.
Knudsen’s previous career best game was a 28-point effort against Greeley West on Feb. 10.
