Girls swimming: Weather forecast causes CHSAA to postpone Class 3A state meet

Meet in Thornton moved from Saturday to Monday

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

On Tuesday afternoon, The Colorado High School Activities Association made the decision to postpone 2021’s Class 3A girls swimming and diving state championships in light of a heavy snowstorm projected in this weekend’s forecast.

Though initially slated for Saturday, the season-ending festivities will now take place on Monday at the same venue as originally intended –– the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center in Thornton.

For the time being, CHSAA possesses no plans to alter the scheduled dates for either the 5A or 4A championships. 5A swimmers and divers will compete at the VMAC on Thursday before 4A squads arrive in Thornton on Friday.

For the area, the postponement only affects student-athletes from Holy Family or Frederick who finished in the top 20 of any event.
