Broomfield High School’s Mallory Mooney on Wednesday was named the Gatorade Colorado girls soccer player of the year.

The recently graduated forward scored 22 goals and had five assists in her junior season, helping lead the Eagles to the second round of the CHSAA girls state soccer tournament. She signed a national letter of intent to play for Auburn.

“Mallory is one of the fiercest competitors I have ever had the privilege of coaching,” Broomfield head coach Jim Davidson said in a news release. “Her drive to succeed is unmatched as is her relentless work ethic. She is the purest goal scorer our program has ever known.”

Soccer runs strong in the Mooney family. Her older brother, Michael, was the 2017-18 Colorado Gatorade boys soccer player of the year.
