Here are the best swimmers and relays from the area

200 medley relay — Fairview (Jenna Reznicek, Jr.; Julianne Jones, So.; Edie Simecek, Fr.; Morgan Lukinac, So.): The young relay came into the second day of the 5A state tournament with the top preliminary time in the event, then dropped the time to an automatic All-American mark of 1 minute, 42.06 seconds, finishing second. All four swimmers were named to the state’s 5A second team.

200 freestyle — Mary Codevilla, Niwot, So.: Codevilla won the 200 and 500 freestyle events at the Class 4A state meet. She was named the swimmer of the year.

200 individual medley — Julianne Jones, Fairview, So.: Among her standout performances at the state meet, the sophomore took silver in the 200 IM to help churn some early momentum in the Knights’ eventual state title win.

50 freestyle — Payten Irwin, Erie, Sr.: The Washington State commit followed up a pair of 2019 state titles in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly with silvers in those events last month. Irwin was critical in and out of the pool in helping lay the foundation for the blossoming girls swim program at Erie.

Diving — Angeline Settle, Monarch, Jr.: The area’s best diver finished fifth in the 4A diving event with 445.80 points, helping lead the Coyotes to eighth at state. Last year, she took ninth.

100 butterfly — Jenna Reznicek, Jr., Fairview/Edie Simecek, Fr., Fairview: The teammates finished two-three in the event — both just fractions into 54 seconds — and both ended up being crucial all over the pool in the Knights’ title win.

100 freestyle — Madison Black, Sr., Silver Creek: Black finished second in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle. She was named to 4A’s second team.

500 freestyle — Sabrina Rachjaibun, Legacy: Rachjaibun took third in the 500 and fourth in the 200 IM for Legacy, which finished seventh in 5A as a team.

200 free relay — Fairview (Samantha Mosier, Jr.; Morgan Lukinac, So.; Helen Sun, Jr.; Karolina Bank, So.): The relay had the fastest state time among area programs at 1:35.74 and finished fourth in 5A.

100 backstroke — Katey Lewicki, Monarch, Sr.: The North Carolina State commit was named the “swimmer of the year” at the 4A meet last month. She came close to a 4A record mark in winning gold in the back.

100 breaststroke — Isabel Rich, Fairview, Sr.: Outside of her teammate, Jones, the University of Wyoming commit had the fastest time at state in the 100 breaststroke among area swimmers at 1:05.12.

400 free relay — Fairview (Mosier, Jr.; Reznicek, Jr.; Ella Ziegert, Fr.; Bank, So.): The Knights finished off their state win with the fastest 400 free relay time among area teams. At 3:30.34, it finished fractions of a second ahead of Legacy (3:30.53) and beat the times from 4A top-five finishers in Broomfield (3:37.26), Monarch (3:37.80) and Niwot (3:37.85).

Coach — Stacey Tobey and Francoise Bentley, Fairview: The co-coaches led the Knights to a defense of their 2019 state title, with another, all in the duo’s first year at the helm since taking over for longtime coach Bob Smartt.
