First team

Genevieve Gudino, So., Holy Family — She helped lead the Tigers to the 4A semifinals, shooting 50 percent from inside the perimeter over the year while averaging 14.9 points per game. She was the only player from any classification in the area to make CHSAA’s first or second all-state team.

Emerson Herrmann, Sr., Monarch — While drawing the focus of the defense on a nightly basis, the player of the year averaged 15.6 points and 11.1 rebounds. She will head to the University of California San Diego next year.

Halle Mackiewicz, Jr., Legacy — Turns out the Clemson soccer commit is really good at basketball, too. She averaged 19.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in 19 games.

Steph Peterson, Sr., Broomfield — Peterson was the floor leader for resurgent Broomfield, which marched all the way to the 5A quarterfinals. She averaged 15.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game.

Ashayla Powers, Jr., Skyline — Powers led the 5A/4A Tri-Valley League in double-doubles with 12. She averaged 15.9 points and 9.7 rebounds.

Second team

Kaitlyn Day, Jr., Dawson School — Day may play in a smaller classification, but her game is plenty big. The junior did a little bit of everything for the Mustangs, averaging 16.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 3.7 assists.

Whitney Echols, Sr., Longmont Christian — Echols had 743 points in her final two seasons with the Warriors. In her senior campaign, she hit a career-best 49 3s and led the 2A/1A Mile High League in scoring (17.7) and made 3s. She was second in assists (4.1).

Izzy Munson, Jr., Fairview — Munson, who averaged 14.6 points, was fantastic down the stretch for Fairview. She put up 20 in an upset win over Fountain-Fort Carson in the first round of the 5A playoffs.

Annika Wetterstrom, Sr., Longmont — Wetterstrom was a first-team selection in the 4A Northern League. A force inside the paint on both ends of the court, she nearly averaged a double-double at 9.9 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Courtney Wristen, So., Broomfield — With Peterson graduating, Broomfield will likely rely even more on Wristen over the next two years. The 6-foot-2 sophomore has come along nicely through two seasons and should only get better. She averaged 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Coach — Ron Rossi, Holy Family — There were plenty of deserving coaches from the area, including Broomfield’s Mike Croell and Monarch’s Gail Hook, who returned to the sidelines to masterfully turnaround their respective programs. Rossi, though, led the Tigers all the way to the 4A Final Four a year after graduating leading-scorer Izzy Hren.
