C — Kat Sackett, Jr., Erie: The Tigers’ backstop drove in 34 runs and smacked nine home runs to earn Tri-Valley position player of the year honors.

INF — Peyton Allen, Sr., Monarch: Coyotes senior shortstop set career highs all across the board in 2018, including a .540 batting average and six home runs. Monarch also hit double-figures in wins for the first time in a long time as a result.

INF — Kayla Harper, Sr., Silver Creek: Another of the state’s toughest outs, Harper smacked 60 hits, had three grand slams among eight homers and stole 30 bases.

INF — Jetta Nannen, Sr., Silver Creek: The Northern League player of the year led the state in home runs (17) and RBIs (72) while leading the Raptors to the 4A semifinals. She finished her career with 39 bombs.

INF — Sloane Quijas, Sr., Erie: A senior who will play middle infield in college, Quijas hit .380 with 10 doubles and three triples for the always competitive Tigers.

INF — Erin Winters, Sr., Holy Family: One of just a couple of seniors who played varsity as a freshman, Winters helped the Tigers gain the ultimate prize in 2018 by hitting .453 and driving home 29 runs.

OF — Tori Dufour, Sr., Frederick: A younger-than-usual Warriors team relied on Dufour’s expertise in centerfield, and she came also came through at the plate with a .395 average, a team-most 24 runs scored and 15 steals.

OF — Anna Martinez, Jr., Holy Family: Getting on base 58 percent of the time as a leadoff hitter, Martinez set the table for her teammates all the way through their memorable 2018 season. She scored an impressive 46 runs.

OF — Lauren Strathearn, Sr., Legacy: On a stout-hitting team, Strathearn still managed to stand out. The 5A first-team all-state player batted .626 with 62 hits and swiped 32 bags.

OF — Angeline Mitchell, Jr., Longmont: Longmont’s first state tournament appearance in recent memory was buoyed by Mitchell, who hit .481, drove in 38 and had two of her five home runs come in the regional tournament.

DH — Logan Taylor, Sr., Legacy: The senior finished her career on a high note, batting .438 and finishing second on the team in RBIs with 24.

UTIL — Maddie Kuehl, So., Silver Creek: An emerging star who should keep tradition alive for the Raptors, Kuehl struck out just once in 101 AB’s, had 21 extra-base hits and won 10 games pitching with a 1.85 ERA.

P — Erin Caviness, Sr., Holy Family: Talk about player of the year numbers — Caviness’s regional and state tournament performance, in six games, included a .556 average, 11 RBIs, six pitching wins, a 1.34 ERA and a 44-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio. And one state title, of course.

P — Hannah Farley, Jr., Legacy: The Lightning ace out-dueled Loveland’s Lauren Krings in an epic regular season game, but that wasn’t all. The junior went 14-3, struck out 141 batters and carried a 2.59 ERA.

Coach — Mitch Martinez, Holy Family: Martinez and his staff had his girls always thinking just about their very next game, and a win in the title game against the defending champs was oh, so sweet, for HFHS.
