Fairview junior quarterback Aidan Atkinson now owns the Colorado single-season passing TD record after throwing eight touchdown passes Thursday night against Poudre. Atkinson has 53 TD passes this season.

Aidan Atkinson has himself another record.

The star Fairview quarterback, only a junior, threw eight touchdown passes in Thursday’s 56-14 win over Poudre. That gives him 53 this season, which sets the all-time record for a single season.

The previous mark was 52, set by Alamosa’s Clay Garcia in 2006.

The eight touchdowns Atkinson threw for on Thursday night are tied for the fourth-most in a single game.

Atkinson broke the 11-man single-game passing record earlier this season. He also set the record for consecutive touchdown passes in three games with a combined 22 against Legacy, Horizon and Fossil Ridge.

Atkinson’s 54 total touchdowns (he has a rushing score) are also the second-most in a single season, trailing only Only Woodlin’s Harold Klausner (77 in 2005).
