The Real Colorado Edge Select ’02 girls club team recently won the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup XVII championship.

With a 2-1 victory over the Mount Laurel (New Jersey) United Pride 16-U girls soccer team on Tuesday in Aurora, the Real Colorado Edge Select ’02 girls completed a rigorous run through the Premier Group field at the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup XVII Finals.

Real Edge, based in Wheat Ridge, featured four girls from area schools: midfielder Abby Lentz (Fairview), defender Lindsey Stodden (Broomfield), forward Bailey Wallace (Monarch) and defender Brenna Wright (Boulder). Lentz is a rising sophomore, while the other three girls are rising juniors at their respective schools.

Over 200 teams in 22 different divisions qualified for the National Cup through regionals or state cups. Overall, 30 states were represented.

In four games through the tournament, Real Edge outscored its foes 13-2 to become the only Colorado club to score a title in either boys or girls competition.
