C — Avery Peterson, Sr., Longmont: An injury-free season also resulted in a .471 on-base percentage, and he threw out 58 percent of attempted base-stealers.

C — J.D. Jones, Fr., Fairview: As a .404-hitting frosh, led Knights in RBI (18) and provided beyond-his-years backstop work.

INF — Matt Bagnato, Sr., Peak to Peak: A five-tool player whose speed and skill at short would translate to any level, Bagnato finished his season with a .532 average, three homers and 29 steals.

INF — Tanner Garner, Sr., Broomfield: Garner dialed up 10 extra-base hits on the season to go along with a team-leading 16 RBI.

INF — Zach Becker, Jr., Holy Family: Had 17 RBI out of the leadoff spot and led HFHS with 11 extra-base hits in a first-team all Tri-Valley league campaign.

INF — Nico Hartojo, Sr., Monarch: Slick-fielding shortstop hit .435 and was docked for just one error in 85 chances, garnering him first team all-Front Range League.

INF — Caleb Lumbard, Sr., Jefferson Academy: Brought the lumber this year, leading the team with 28 hits, 25 runs and 23 RBI.

OF — Ross Smith, Sr., Legacy: His arm in the field was well-known by season’s end, and Smith also led LHS with 23 RBI and four homers.

OF — Spencer Rich, Jr., Silver Creek: Broke out for 33 hits including five triples this season, and additional speed stats included 15 steals.

OF — Noah Befus, Sr., Longmont: The 1st team all-Northern League rep stroked 12 doubles and knocked in 25 runs for the league champs.

OF — Justin Lear, Sr., Lyons: An on-base percentage of .621 was complemented by 22 runs and 19 RBI. Lear also went 5-2 on the mound.

DH — Mitchell Morales, Jr., Broomfield: The Eagles did not get to utilize his pitching in 2018, but Morales carried the offense with a .421 average and 16 RBI.

DH — Chase Fulkerson, Sr., Dawson School: The Mustangs’ senior leader showed up at the plate (.470 average, 25 runs, 20 RBI), helping Dawson reach the state tournament once again.

P — Andrew Morris, Sr., Monarch: The BoCoPreps.com player of the year pitched the Coyotes’ biggest innings, went 8-2 with a .180 batting average allowed and finished first in 5A with 98 strikeouts.

P — Dominic Puchino, So., Longmont Christian: The Warriors made the 1A semifinals largely on Puchino’s overwhelming mound work (4-1, 1.99 ERA, 16.7 Ks/7 IP).

P — Brady Carstens, Sr., Mead: The Tri-Valley League pitcher of the year finished 7-3 and walked just 10 batters while sending down 102 by strikeout.

P — Weston Siefkin, Jr., Holy Family: Siefkin won his final five games including a 1-hitter in districts against D’Evelyn, and overall boasted a 2.92 ERA.


P — Jackson Dinkel, Sr., Boulder: Boulder’s workhorse carried a 2.77 ERA while striking out 68 batters.

UTIL — Ryan Overboe, Sr., Legacy: Rebounded at the plate (team-leading 25 hits, .538 OBP) in his senior year while his pitching (5-2, 2.24 ERA, 75 K’s) was stellar.

Coach of the year – Tom Fobes, Longmont: The Trojans’ only blemish in the Northern was an opening loss vs. Greeley Central, and Longmont went on to win 19 games and make the 4A state tournament with a solid group of kids.
