Holy Family’s Collin Kringlen and the Tigers will make their state tournament debut on Tuesday at Metro State.

The Class 4A state baseball tournament has been delayed once again, joining the previously postponed Class 3A tournament, according to

On Monday morning, it was discovered that a significant amount of rain came down around All Star Park in Lakewood, and even though parts of the field were covered with a tarp, the precipitation leaked underneath it.

Two of the four opening-round playoff games — involving Windsor, Roosevelt, Cheyenne Mountain and Evergreen — were scheduled for All Star Park on Monday, with a third “winner’s bracket” game also scheduled.

The other four teams (Longmont, Holy Family, Valor Christian, Pueblo West) were slated to play at Metro State, where part of the Class 5A tournament was also being played. Those 4A games could have been played, but in fairness to everyone it was determined the whole tournament should be delayed.

The games will now be moved to Tuesday and Wednesday, and then will pick up again on May 29-30.

Longmont will now play Pueblo West on Tuesday at Metro State (2 p.m.), while Holy Family will also play Valor Christian at 4:30 p.m. … weather notwithstanding. The winners will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Class 3A schedule has also had trouble avoiding spots of heavy rain. Having already been delayed this past week, the whole tournament will shift to the Greeley area to be played the next two weekends.

Peak to Peak was scheduled to play at Niwot High’s field last week, but its opening game against Eaton will now be played on Friday at Butch Butler Field (12:30 p.m.). Other games that were to be played at Niwot will now be played at University High School.
