Mitchell Gorman and the Broomfield Eagles take a four-game winning streak into Saturday’s Class 4A first round playoff game at Windsor.

Class 4A, first round

Kickoff: Saturday, 1 p.m., Windsor HS

Quick hits: After a one-year leave of absence, coach Chris Jones is back leading Windsor and the Wizards are right back in as one of the 4A favorites with a 10-0 loss to Pine Creek in Week 2 the only setback … Broomfield met up with Windsor the week after that loss and WHS held nothing back in a 40-14 win. It was a 19-point second quarter for Windsor that put the Eagles behind the 8-ball … Windsor has racked up 269 rushing yards a contest, but 27 created turnovers have helped with making short fields for the offense … Broomfield is playing well with four straight wins, outscoring opponents 161-21 in that stretch … The Eagles’ 257 total yards per game ranked in the bottom half of 4A, but allowing just 176 points defensively put BHS 14th … The Eagles have picked off nine passes, led by three each from Preston May and Tanner Garner.

Bottom line: Broomfield needed last week’s win against Brighton to get into the playoffs, and in reality the Eagles have been in must-win mode since mid-season when they were 2-4. Windsor is not a juggernaut by any means, but Broomfield will need to avoid any and all mistakes to score the big upset.
