Jacob Mansdorfer and the Erie Tigers are hosting a home playoff game for the first time since 2008 when they welcome three-time defending 3A champ Pueblo East on Friday night.

Class 3A, first round

Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m, Erie HS

Quick hits: There might not be a more scary 12 seed in the playoffs than Pueblo East, the three-time defending state champions … The Eagles started 0-5 before running through the South Central League, and convincing wins over Durango and Harrison show PEHS is back to form … Players to keep an eye on are junior QB Luc Andrada (1,904 total yards, 23 total touchdowns) and WR Kain Medrano (867 total yards, 11 TD’s) … Erie, of course, is hosting a playoff game for the since time since 2008 and the Tigers are eager to make a similar run as they did that year … EHS lost consecutive games against Roosevelt and No. 1 Mead in recent weeks, but both were extremely close games and the Tigers got back on track against a good Frederick team to close out the season … With all the credit Noah Roper has received on both sides of the football, the defense has been very good allowing just 19.5 points per game with 29.5 team sacks and 15 total turnovers.

Bottom line: This is a rematch of an opening round game in 2016, and Erie’s mantra all week has been about getting revenge in their home stadium. The Tigers will be in a clock-control game and must diversify the offense a bit against this traditionally tough Pueblo East defense.
