    Monarch's Carly Gallant tied for ninth place at the 5A state tournament

    Frederick's Erin Baum placed 34th at the Class 4A state tournament.



First team

Erin Baum, Sr., Frederick: She placed 71st at state in 2016 and moved way up the standing this season, shooting a two-day 189 at the Class 4A state tournament to place in a tie for 34th.

Carly Gallant, Sr., Monarch: The four-year letterman and four-time state qualifier won two tournaments this season and ended her final season of prep golf in a tie for ninth place at the 5A state tournament.

Grace Gunlikson, Sr., Skyline: Improving on her 30th-place finish in 2016, she shot a two-day score of 182 at the 2017 4A state tournament to finish in a tie for 24th place.

Hailey Schalk, Fr., Holy Family: Averaging 70.70 strokes and winning all nine tournaments she entered as a freshman, the BoCoPreps.com golfer of the year took home the first 3A individual state championship.

Emma Teuton, Sr., Monarch: Finishing 59th at the 5A state tournament, she averaged 83 strokes per tournament this season while helping the Coyotes build towards and eventual 10th-place team finish.

Kelsey Webster, Jr., Fairview: She wasn’t at her best on Day 1 at state but still finished in a tie for ninth place in 5A to cap a strong season during which she averaged 74.50 strokes per round and scored in the 60s twice.

Meghan Vogt, Fr., Holy Family: She shot a two-day 153 at Broadlands Golf Course to finish the 3A state tournament is a tie for seventh place individually and helping the Tigers place second in the team scoring.

Coach of the Year – Matt Schalk, Holy Family: In the program’s return, he led the Tigers to a second-place finish in 3A with a varsity tournament team of two freshman, a junior and one senior.
