Jeremy Lanter has been named the new head football coach at Niwot, athletic director Chase McBride announced Monday evening.

“I am honored and excited for this wonderful opportunity,” Lanter said. “Niwot has a long history of excellence and I am thankful to have the opportunity to add to that tradition and impact kids in such a wonderful community.”

Lanter has been an assistant coach the past 15 years, most recently serving as the defensive coordinator at Berthoud High School. He was on the staff of Berthoud’s 2007 3A state championship team.

“His positive energy, commitment to student and student-athletes, and love for the game are just some of the reasons why we believe coach Lanter to be a perfect fit here at Niwot,” McBride said.

Lantern takes over a Cougars squad that went 3-7 last season.
