Monarch's Sidney Trimm returns for her senior season.

Madison Barkow, Sr., Niwot: One of the premier divers in the in the region for years, she will look to try and improve on a 6th place finish last year.

Brittney Beetcher, Sr., Fairview: The state’s premier distance swimmer last year, she will look to defend her titles in the 200 and 500 frees.

Sarah Findley, Sr. Silver Creek: One of the two super seniors that coach Debbie Stewart is counting on to lead the Raptors to a top five finish at state.

Amelie Lessing, So., Fairview: Coach Bob Smartt is hoping for big things from his sophomore, whose all around ability in the water makes her a valuable asset.

Jillian Martin, So., Broomfield: Coach Emily Austin is hopeful that her talented sophomore is one of several who will be back for the finals.

Lucy Matheson, Fr., Longmont: She will be one to watch in the region for years. Already a junior national qualifier in the demanding 400 IM — a non-high school event.

Skylar Riley, Sr., Centaurus: Spearheading the Warriors move to 3A and will be a factor in the freestyle sprints.

Riley Tapley, So., Fairview: Another member of the promising sophomore class for the Knights, she could be a finalist in the 100 backstroke.

Sidney Trimm, Sr., Monarch: Made the BoCo all-region team last year in the 100 free spot, but is as versatile a swimmer as there is in the area.

Grace Vallette, Fr., Boulder: One of the many talented incoming freshmen for the Panthers and sister of last year’s All-American Josie.

Brandi Vu, Jr., Silver Creek: Talented junior is always a threat in the individual medley and a key member of the Raptors relay depth.

5A state meet: February 9-10 at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, Thornton.

4A state meet: February 10-11 at Edora Pool Ice Center, Fort Collins.

3A state meet: February 10-122 at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, Thornton

Coach: Jay Turner (2nd season)

Last year: Finished 16th at Class 5A state meet.

Returning state qualifier: Michelle Jun (Jr.)

Other to watch: Annie Caplan (Fr.); Emma Culbertson (Fr.); Sofia Orrey-Valencia (Jr.); Riley Swift (Sr.); Grace Vallette (Fr.); Alexa Warner (Jr.)

Outlook: The Panthers graduated quite a bit, but in Boulder — with a multitude of year round club swimmers on hand — reloading is usually pretty simple. The Panthers have done so, and while maybe not as strong as last season, they have a talented freshman class that should help stabilize the program for the next few seasons. Turner is confident that his team will surprise some people with their depth, especially in the relays.

Coach: Emily Austin (18th season)

Last year: Finished 23rd at Class 5A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Katie Conn (Sr., diving); Sophie Henehan (Sr., fly and relays); Kirsten Kerwin (Jr., relays); Jillian Martin (So., freestyle and relays).

Others to watch: Emma Anderson (Sr.); Alesha Bratcher (Sr.); Sienna Dreher (Fr.); Ashten Dukes (So.); Annabelle Lingbeck (Fr.); Brynja Marshall (Fr.); Rebecca Thompson (Fr.).

Outlook: Despite the fact the Eagles were originally placed in Class 4A by the CHSAA, they were told by the district that they would still be competing in 5A this year. It’s a blow that will hurt the Eagles team-wise when they head to state, but Austin is confident that there will be several Eagles individuals that should and could make the finals. Keep an eye on the divers, lead by Conn, who will get a boost from several gymnasts that have joined the team.

Coach: Ashley Scott (7th season)

Last year: Finished 17th at Class 4A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Sarah Boyer (So., 50 free and breast); Lexi James (Sr., sprints); Skylar Riley (Sr., free and back); Erika Schunk (Jr., free, IM and breast)

Others to watch: Jackie Boian (Jr.); Georgia Dauzvardis (So.); Lily Dunkin (Fr.); Grace Spakes (Fr.).

Outlook: The Warriors have a chance to make some noise in the newly formed Class 3A. They have the depth and talent to challenge for a top 10 spot … if not higher. They have been traditionally strong in the relays — where the points are huge — and this year should be no different.

Coach: Bob Smartt (17th season)

Last year: Class 5A state champions

Returning state qualifiers: Brittney Beetcher (Sr., 200 and 500 free); Cailen Chinn (Jr., free and back); Kim Lanaghen (So., IM and fly); Amelie Lessing (So., IM and fly); Kaia Reznicek (So., 50 free); Alex Schweir (So., IM and breast); Riley Tapley (So., back and fly).

Others to watch: Molly Box (Jr.); Natalie Brent (So.); Robin Cruz-Abrams (Fr.); Clara Dresselhaus (Sr.); Mya Drost-Parra (So.); Una Forsythe (So.); Amelia Heckman (Jr.); Elyssa Hofgard (Sr.); Erin Keown (Fr.); Heather MacLachlan (Fr.); Amelia Nadelson (Jr.); Ellie Parker (Fr.); Emma Perkins (Jr.); Isabel Rich (Fr.); Mikayla Seigal (So.); Morgan Simon (So.); Sarah Thomas (Jr.).

Outlook: Depth, depth and more depth. The defending state champs lost four talented seniors to Division I college programs, but Smartt’s model for success has paid off over the years and 2016-17 should be no different with over 110 swimmers. In addition to Beetcher, who will try to defend her two individual titles, the longtime Knight’s coach is super excited about a sophomore class that will pay dividends for the next few season. The Knights will have to fend off a powerful Fossil Ridge team if they would like to defend their team title.

Coach: Diana Wiles (6th season)

Last year: Finished 32nd at Class 5A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Lisa Bingham (So., relays); Shannon Feran (So., sprints and relays); Sophia Romero (So. 50 free, fly and relays); Michaela Romono (Jr., breast and relays); Rachel Soans (So., relays); Bella Waters (Jr., IM, breast and relays).

Others to watch: Kandice Chandra (Fr.); Taylor Clark (Sr.); Abi Crosier (Sr.); Elizabeth Miller (Fr.); Stephanie Molitor (Sr.); Elizabeth Nielsen (Fr.); Natalie Prestwich (Sr.).

Outlook: An promising incoming freshmen class has provided the Lightning with depth that they have really never had. They could score some major points in diving with gymnasts Clark, Crosier and Prestwich bringing their talents to the well.

Coach: Kelly Shipley (3rd season)

Last year: Did not score at Class 4A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Mel Boyle (So.); Bre Brown (Sr.); Sam Kolodziej (Jr.); Megan Smith (Sr.); Sydney Wyatt (So.).

Others to watch: Maeve Debuse (So.); Cailyn Eveland (Fr.); Lucy Matheson (Fr.); Alice Money (Fr.); Maggie Wise (Fr.).

Outlook: Said Shipley, whose team will join Centaurus as the other local team to join Class 3A: “We have experienced a lot of growth and with that comes a lot of strength. If we do things right, we will have lots of swimmers at state.”

Coach: Melanie Beard (2nd season)

Last year: Finished 15th at Class 5A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Sydney Atkinson (Jr., 100 breast); Anna Barjenbruch (Jr., 100 Back); Randi Rens (So., 100 back and 200 IM); Sidney Trimm (Sr., 100 fly and 50 free).

Other to watch: Katey Lewicki (Fr.); Megan Mitchell (So.); Sydney Morgenstein (Sr.); Stephanie Tymoszuk (Sr.); Quinn Webster (So.); Laura Zhang (So.).

Outlook: Said Beard, whose team finished second at last week’s Fairview Invite: “We are really excited for this season. Our swimmers have set some excellent goals this season for themselves and for the team, we look forward to being a part of their accomplishments.”

Coach: Sarah Stamp (8th season)

Last year: Finished 25th at Class 4A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Chase Balman (Sr., relays); Madison Barkow (Sr., diving); Claire Jepson (So., back and relays); Cameron Kenkel (Sr., breast and relays); Eva Kitlen (Sr., relays); Hannah Luo (So., fly, IM, breast and relays); Amelia Luthens (Jr., 500 free, back and relays); Kristi Vu (So., relays).

Others to watch: Makaela Fauber (Jr.); Payten Irwin (Fr.); Jenna McCaffrey (Sr.); Grace Miller (Fr.); Christina Otte (Jr.); Audrey Ryan (Sr.); Sidney Ryan (So.); Abbie Shaw (Fr.); Claire Shen (Jr.); Ella Thramann (So.); Olivia Thramann (Fr.).

Outlook: Said Stamp: “We have a strong group returning to us this year with an infusion of some very strong freshman swimmers. We should remain competitive in our duals and at invites. We are looking to improve our placing at state and conference this year with our depth.”

Coach: Debbie Stewart (16th season)

Last year: Finished 5th at Class 4A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Lauren Bonde(Jr., 100 free and 100 back); Sara Findley (Sr., 200 free, 100 free and relays); Sophie Haase (Sr., relays); Meghan Magill (Jr., 200 free, 100 free and relays); Emma Pearson (Jr., 200 free and 500 free); Nicole Schlegel (Jr., 100 fly, 100 back and relays); Brandi Vu (Jr., 200 IM, 100 breast and relays); Jenny Weygandt (Jr., relays).

Others to watch: Madison Black (Fr.); Ashley Degen (So.); Emilie Hartrampf (Fr.); Emma Lilly (Jr.); Karly Pearson (Fr.); Ally Smith (So.); Kathy Weygandt (Fr.).

Outlook: The Raptors have established themselves as a team to contend with at the Class 4A state meet. The 2016-17 version of the Raptors has everything a team needs to be a contender: senior leadership, depth, quality underclassmen and a bevy of divers that have the ability to reach the finals.

Coach: Alyson Harr (2nd season)

Last year: Finished 24th at Class 4A state meet

Returning state qualifiers: Paulina Gutierrez (Jr., relays); Molly Leute (Sr., relays); Reilly Scheppers (Sr., 200 IM and relays).

Others to watch: Rachel Berggren (Jr.)

Outlook: There is plenty of individual talent on the Falcons roster and Harr is pleased with the progression of Berggren over the last few season and is confident that Gutierrez will be a multi-event qualifier for the state meet.
