Record: 16-8, (2-1 in state tournament)

Playoff path: Beat Pueblo East and Niwot in districts; Opened state tournament with a loss to Delta before coming back to beat Longmont and Mountain View.

Season studs: Clint Allen (.474 avg., 26 RBI); Josh Crites (34 runs scored); Nick Gavit (two home runs); Ruben Portillo (six wins, three saves, 1.44 ERA).

Nice to know: It is safe to say Erie had the weirdest, or most improbable, pair of wins this past weekend to get where it is — the Tigers beat Longmont 20-16 in the first game and then had to outlast top-seed Mountain View in 12 innings for a 6-5 victory. … It’s been an all-over-the-map kind of season for Erie, though, as it has allowed nearly twice as many runs as a year ago. … Portillo has been brilliant in his first year as a full-time varsity player. In 2015, he allowed five earned runs in 7.1 innings and had more walks than strikeouts. … Erie has two baseball titles, the last coming in 1970.

Record: 20-4, (3-0 in state tournament)

Playoff path: Beat Montrose and Thompson Valley in districts; Swept through Longmont, Delta and Valor Christian in state tournament.

Season studs: Rocco Arguto (.500 avg.); Josh Drury (29 RBI, two home runs); Ian Garcia (32 runs scored); Zach Maize (8-1, 3.13 ERA).

Nice to know: The Cyclones are sitting pretty as they head to the final weekend undefeated, though they have the farthest bus trip of any of the remaining teams. They are another stingy squad that has just one in-state loss (a 3-2 setback against Pueblo South). … In addition to Maize, Arguto is 6-1 and RJ Dabovich has allowed but one earned run in 25.2 innings pitched. … Pueblo West has never won a baseball title.

Record: 20-4 (2-1 in state tournament)

Playoff path: Beat Ponderosa and Northridge in districts; Beat Windsor and Mountain View in state tournament before losing to Pueblo West.

Season studs: Blake Donels (.446 batting average, 30 RBI); Luke Ziegler (35 hits); Joel Pierce (four home runs); Davis Heller (9-0, 2.39 ERA).

Nice to know: The Eagles play Erie at noon Friday coming of just their second in-state loss (Pomona was only other Colorado team to beat them). The 20 wins they have is already a school program best. … This is a rematch of an April 1 game in which Valor won 13-3 on its home field. Luke Ziegler was the star in that one, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and pitching three innings of one-run ball. … Valor has never won a baseball title.

Record: 20-4, (2-1 in state tournament)

Playoff path: Beat Weld Central and Pueblo Centennial in districts; Lost to Valor Christian to open state tournament but has since beaten Air Academy and Delta.

Season studs: Mitchell Watson (.423 avg., four home runs); Tyler Shubert (22 RBI); Braden Peninger (30 runs scored); Jake Greenwalt (nine wins, 0.89 ERA).

Nice to know: The Wizards gave up just 72 runs all year and went 12-2 in Tri-Valley League play with one loss to Erie and another to Frederick. … Windsor has also won a lot of tight, low-scoring games (seven wins scoring three runs or fewer). Sound defense (31 errors all year) has a lot to do with that, as well. … Windsor and Pueblo West matched up in the 2015 postseason, with Windsor taking a 2-0 win. … The Wizards have never won a baseball title.
