The Dawson School baseball team punched its ticket to the Class 2A state tournament by winning the District 4 championship Saturday, knocking off Resurrection Christian 5-4 in the title game.

Dawson (15-4), the No. 1 seed in the tourney, scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get the come-from-behind victory. Seth Clemente, who walked to open the frame, scored the first run on a wild pitch and Tanner Fulkerson, who reached on a double, scored the game winner on Luke Feigal’s RBI bunt single.

Fulkerson went 2 for 4 and scored three runs, while Fiegal finished with a pair of RBI. Tanner Fulkerson got the win on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work.

The Mustangs advanced to the title game by virtue of a 12-0 victory over fourth-seeded Lyons (6-12) in the day’s first contest. Cade McClellan had three RBI and Dawson pounded out 10 hits in the five-inning victory. Chris Slade held the Lions to two hits and struck out three to get the win.
