The winter storm that dumped more than 16 inches of snow in Boulder and 10 inches in Longmont, along with freezing temperatures and dangerous driving conditions, has led to the cancellation of the majority of high school sporting events on Tuesday.

The St. Vrain Valley School District announced through it’s websites of the cancellations early Tuesday morning, saying: “Due to deteriorating road conditions, the district will be closed today, February 2. A school closure also means that all before- and after-school activities, including athletic practices and games, are also cancelled.”

The Boulder Valley School District also posted a similar message, saying: “All BVSD schools and offices are closed today due to weather. All after-school activities are cancelled.”

This marks the second time during the winter sports season that games have been postponed/cancelled due to weather. The districts also cancelled school and events on Dec. 15.
