The Boulder Legion A baseball team fell late Wednesday night to New Mexico Post 13, 5-2, as the American Legion Western Region 8 Tournament got underway at Boulder’s Scott Carpenter Park.

Leadoff hitter Adam Stowe went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and a run driven in while also making a highlight reel play in centerfield for Boulder, but the host team was limited in runs crossing the plate by the pitching combination of Anthony Inge and Josiah Acton, giving Post 13 out of Albuquerque a chance in the winner’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

Boulder will play Nevada Post 76 in an elimination game today at 1 p.m.

Stowe doubled to lead off the game, and he came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Luke Bote to get Boulder an early lead. Despite nine total hits in the game, they didn’t get another run until the ninth inning.

Inge pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning, and Boulder came up empty in the seventh after putting two on with one out against Acton.

Boulder starting pitcher Mason Hitz gave up just three earned runs despite six walks issued, and Isaac Parks came in and struck out six in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
