New Fairview graduate Ryan Madden added another lofty honor to his ledger on Thursday, as he was named the 2015 Gatorade baseball Player of the Year for the state of Colorado.
Madden led the Knights to the Front Range League crown as a two-way standout, posting a 7-2 record with a 1.41 earned-run average on the mound while also wrecking havoc as one of the top hitters in the state. The Oklahoma-bound Madden shared the Class 5A lead with seven home runs and finished tied for fifth in 5A with 29 RBIs. The Front Range League Player of the Year, Madden hit .446 (29 for 65) with four doubles, two triples, and a team-leading 29 runs scored.
Madden celebrated his latest accolade Thursday by joining teammates Jake Thoning and Mitch Tyse in the annual Colorado Rockies high school all-star game at Coors Field.
Also participating in the annual seniors vs. underclassmen exhibition were Legacy catcher Wyatt Cross; Monarch’s Southern Illinois-bound star Logan Soole; Erie pitcher Kyle Leahy; and Silver Creek pitcher Austin Wood.
