Kyle Leahy, Erie baseball: With plenty of time to rest his pitching arm between games of the Class 4A state tournament, Leahy turned in a brilliant game against Lewis-Palmer to give the Tigers at least a chance to move on this past Thursday in a 1-0 season-ending loss. Leahy went the distance, gave up just one unearned run on four hits, and struck out seven Rangers batters in his final prep start. The senior will be pitching gems for Colorado Mesa next spring after finishing 2015 with a 0.45 earned-run average.

Erin Sargent, Silver Creek golf: The Class 4A state golf tournament, unlike its 5A counterpart, was played in full this past week in Carbondale, and Sargent commanded River Valley Ranch to the tune of a 74-77 total of 151 and a third place standing. Her first round included three birdies in the first five holes, and she continued to play solid throughout. With her state and regional finishes, Sargent will be a top contender for the state title next spring.
