Christian Feiler, Boulder swimming: Feiler’s work in the weight room during the offseason paid off this weekend at the Class 5A state meet at the Air Force Academy, a memorable two days for the Princeton-bound swimmer. A favorite to win the 50 freestyle, Feiler made that a no-doubter with a time of 20.67 seconds in the final for one of his two gold medals (also anchored the 200 medley relay). He nearly doubled up on individual events, taking second in the 100 freestyle with a season-best 45.68.
Ginger Hutton, Shining Mountain track: Hutton quietly put together one of the most fascinating performances of the entire state track meet, Her 400 meter time of 57.89 seconds? A 1A meet record. Her 800 (2:12.81) also was a 1A meet record. And she won the two other individual distance races (1,600 and 3,200) to give her four individual gold medals in her final prep meet of her career. She will star at Vanderbilt next fall.
