The Class 3A girls soccer state tournament continues Thursday in the quarterfinal round. Here’s a look at the local matchups.

CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS

(5) Peak to Peak at (4) Kent Denver

When: Thursday, 4:30 p.m.

Records: Peak to Peak 10-5-1; Kent Denver 11-3-1.

Notes: The Class 3A Metropolitan League has once again shown its prowess, with five teams comprising the final eight alive in the playoffs … Peak to Peak and Kent Denver will be meeting for the second time this season, and the Pumas will be looking to avenge a 2-0 loss on April 21 … In that game, Sarah Shepherd stopped seven shots but Kent received goals from sophomores Isabelle Roseto and Sage Digiulio … Digiulio leads the Sun Devils with 16 goals, and she had a pair of them in Kent’s 4-0 second-round win against Alamosa … Kent Denver has allowed just eight goals against all year … For Peak to Peak, Kenna Hazzard had an amazing game with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Lutheran in the second round. Shepherd also made six saves in that win … The Pumas have won six straight overall but have lost the last two times playing Kent Denver … The winner of this affair will match up with either No. 1 Colorado Academy or No. 9 St. Mary’s in the semifinals Saturday at All-City Stadium.

 

(6) Frontier Academy at (3) Jefferson Academy

When: Thursday, 6 p.m.

Records: Frontier Academy 12-4; Jefferson Academy 14-2.

Notes: For the second straight season, Jefferson Academy has made the quarterfinals, and the Jaguars will face a Frontier Academy team that they haven’t seen since 2010 … The Wolverines, coached by Lance Williams, have won nine straight games including a 3-1 win over Sterling in the second round … Frontier Academy’s quality wins include two victories over Liberty Common (finished 12-4) and one against Middle Park, which also made playoffs. Alexa Rose (21 goals and 54 points) and Breanna Olson (17 goals) are the primary threats for FA … Jefferson Academy throttled Bayfield 6-1 in their playoff opener, and six different girls scored goals. Kassidy Hastings needed to make just three saves in the game, too … A trip to the semifinals for the winner means a matchup against either No. 2 The Academy or No. 10 SkyView Academy.
