Max Wiesner, Monarch lacrosse: If Wiesner is going to remember any one thing that happened over his prep lacrosse career, it came this week. After falling behind 14-8 to Mullen in a first-round playoff game, Wiesner and the Coyotes made a huge rally, and the senior capped it with a highlight-reel individual play in overtime. The Coyotes lost a tight one to Regis Jesuit in the quarterfinals, but Wiesner totaled nine goals in the two contests.

Roxana Vranian, Centaurus soccer: The Warriors put their faith in freshmen this season, but no more so than in a first-round playoff game against Valor Christian — a team ranked No. 1 in Class 4A for a time — last week. Vranian turned out to be the star for the Warriors, posting 15 saves including a big one in the penalty kicks after the contest had gone past double overtime without either team scoring.
