Cooper Rothe, Longmont baseball: The ultra-competitive Northern League title race came down to a Saturday doubleheader for the Trojans, and Rothe provided some fireworks with home runs in each game — his first two bombs of the year — as LHS swept Thompson Valley and Mountain View. He had a solid week overall in five games, going 6 for 17 with seven runs and four RBIs.

Julia Pentz, Niwot tennis: A freshman for the Cougars playing the top singles position, Pentz waltzed through a 13-team regional that should help prepare her for a good first run at the 4A state meet in Pueblo. She completed her run with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Holy Family’s Maddie Farver, making her one of three freshmen to earn a spot in the state bracket.
