The teams are set for Class 4A and 5A regional tournaments, and the chance to qualify for their respective state tournaments has finally arrived for Colorado’s prep girls golfers.

Each of the four Class 5A regional tournaments, which were seeded by a waterfall system based on each team’s finish in conference play, will receive two automatic state tournament team bids and 13 individual bids for players not on a qualifying team.

One full team will qualify from each Class 4A region. The number of individual qualifiers at each 4A region is based on the number of players that tee of at each tournament. If a school qualifies three or four golfers, it will be eligible for the team competition at state. The highest scoring member from a team that qualifies as a team much be 10 strokes or fewer off the last individual qualifier in order to qualify with her team.



Local teams: Boulder, Fairview, at Central Regional (at Common Ground, Monday, 8:30 a.m.); Broomfield at Southern Regional (at Heritage Eagle Bend, Monday, 8 a.m.); Legacy at Western Regional (at Fox Hollow, Monday, 8 a.m.); Monarch at Northern Regional (at Heather Ridge The Links, Monday, 8 a.m.).

Players to watch: Delaney Elliott, Jr., Monarch; Carly Gallant, So., Monarch; Jennifer Hankins, Jr., Legacy; Andrea Hoos, Jr., Legacy; Hope Kim, Jr., Broomfield; Jenna Knutson, Sr., Boulder; Madison McCambridge, Jr., Fairview.

Outlook: After running away with the Front Range League title, Legacy will enter the next chapter of its thus-far outstanding 2015 and attempt to qualify its team for the 5A state tournament … Fairview’s Madison McCambridge, who placed 30th at the state tournament last season, is coming of an individual title at the final Front Range League match that won her the conference season title. McCambridge won three FRL tournaments during the regular season … Neck-and-neck at state last year, Legacy’s Jennifer Hankins and Andrea Hoos are out to improve on their tie for a 24th-place finish at the 2014 state tournament … Monarch’s Delaney Elliott, who finished second in the Front Range League, tied for 21st at state last year and will be looking to move up this season … Boulder, which recently recorded a long-sought win at Harmony Club, finished seventh in the Front Range League.



Local teams: Jefferson Academy, Peak to Peak at Metro-West Regional (at Raccoon Creek, Monday, 8 a.m.); Centaurus, Erie, Niwot, Silver Creek, Skyline, at Northern Regional (at Boomerang, Monday, 9 a.m.).

Players to watch: Mariah Ehrman, Sr., Jefferson Academy; Jennifer Kupcho, Sr., Jefferson Academy; Adara Pauluhn, Sr., Niwot; Erin Sargent, Jr., Silver Creek; Laci Williams, Skyline.

Outlook: Jefferson Academy senior Jennifer Kupcho will be looking to qualify for the 4A state tournament, where last year she ran away with the individual title by 14 strokes … After winning the Tri-Valley League title, Skyline will attempt to qualify its team for the state tournament in its first season in Class 4A … Niwot senior Adara Pauluhn, who tied for 14th in 5A while playing for the St. Vrain Valley School District combo team at Skyline last season, is looking for a similar finish now at the 4A level. Skyline’s Williams is coming off a victory in the final Tri-Valley League meet and helped lead the Falcons to the season-long team title. Williams also claimed the TVL’s individual crown … New programs Niwot, Silver Creek and Erie will be playing at their first regional tournament … Also playing for Skyline last year, Silver Creek’s Erin Sargent placed sixth in 5A.
