Austin Wood, Silver Creek baseball: It was a relatively quiet week for the Raptors with just one game, but that game did come on the home turf of the local major league ball club against a 5A team. Wood tossed a gem at Coors Field against Rangeview, allowing no hits in four innings with eight strikeouts and just three walks. The junior also went 1 for 2 with a walk in the game at the plate, aiding Silver Creek to its third win of the year.

Hannah Triem, Niwot soccer: The Cougars bounced back in a big way from a 1-0 loss to Broomfield in their opener, outscoring Skyview and Skyline 11-1 with a variety of girls getting on the scoreboard. Triem, a senior captain who plays the midfield, had three of those goals and added an assist in the Skyview game. She is expected to put up more points after playing along the back line last year, and she’s already off to a great start.
