2015 Girls Swimming All-Region Team

Medley relay — FAIRVIEW (Julia Box, Sr., Sidney Andrew, Sr., Sienna Stonesmith, Sr., Michaela Mullison, Jr.): The Knights quartet came home in 1:45.73 to place third in school-record fashion.

200 freestyle — BRITTNEY BEETCHER, So., Fairview: Finished runner up to Arapahoe’s Ella Moynihan in both her events (also the 500 free). Finished with the same exact time (1:50.87) to earn this honor.

200 IM — SANDRA FREEMAN, Jr. Fairview: In an event that demands perfection in all four strokes, Freeman did it the best. The Knights junior went a school-record 2:05.70 in the championship finals, good for fifth place.

50 free — JOSIE VALETTE, Jr., Boulder: Snuck into the championship finals and then jumped up two spots to sixth with a final swim of 24.02 seconds.

Diving — MADISON BARKOW, So., Niwot: Saw her score improve by nearly 70 points from a season ago at the state meet. Her total of 490.05 points was good enough for a second consecutive third-place finish.

100 butterfly — JULIA BOX, Sr., Fairview: The University of Buffalo signee finished fourth in her specialty. After qualifying fifth on the first day, Box rallied to fourth in 56.11 seconds.

100 freestyle — SIDNEY TRIMM, So., Monarch: The Coyotes standout wasn’t as fast as she was in earning this honor last year, but her 53.61 finals swim was good enough for 15th overall.

500 freestyle — HALEY ROWLEY, Sr., Centaurus: Was the top seed in this event — as well as the 200 IM, going into the state meet, but had to miss the event due to illness. The Purdue signee had a season-best 4:52.96.

200 freestyle relay — FAIRVIEW (Jessie Li, Sr., Logan Tidstrom, Jr., Stonesmith, Beetcher): A banner winter season for Tidstrom, who in addition to helping this relay team to a sixth-place finish in 1:37.84; also helped the Knights to a Great 8 finish in hoops.

100 backstroke — NICOLE SCHLEGEL, Fr., Silver Creek: One of the many Raptors freshmen that have them going in the right direction. Schlegel’s effort of 59.33 on Saturday of the state meet was good for a 12th place finish.

100 breaststroke — BRANDI VU, Fr., Silver Creek: Another one of the Raptors’ freshmen that burst on to the scene. Vu capped her season with a 1:04.76 swim in the finals that landed her third on the podium.

400 freestyle relay — FAIRVIEW (Li, Cailen Chinn, Fr., Beetcher, Box): On a fast night at EPIC, the Knights closed out the season with a fourth-place finish in 3:31.04.

Coach — Debbie Stewart, Silver Creek: Stewart integrated talented newcomers such as Vu and Schlegel alongside several speedy holdovers to help the Raptors return to the top 10 with an eighth-place team finish at the 4A state finals.
