(5) Boulder at (1) Regis Jesuit
When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.
Records: Boulder 19-6; Regis 22-2.
Notes: Boulder senior Garrett Turner is the only Panthers player who appeared in the team’s four-point, second-round loss at Regis two years ago, scoring 11 points … Turner has gone 21 for 24 at the free throw line during the playoffs and ranks among the Class 5A leaders in made free throws and free throw percentage … A 13 points-per-game scorer, Turner has averaged 20.5 in the Panthers’ two state tournament wins … Boulder is seeking its first Great 8 appearance since the Riley Grabau-led state runner-up squad of 2011, which lost the title game against Regis. That marked Panthers coach Eric Eisenhard’s final game as a Regis assistant before replacing Alan Schulz at Boulder … Much like Boulder, the Raiders feature a balanced scoring attack led by three seniors averaging double figures — Taylor Kallsen (11.7), Kip Boryla (11.0) and Bryan Staerkel (10.4). Elijah Sanford leads Regis with 5.3 rebounds per game … The winner will face either Rangeview or Denver East in the state quarterfinals on Saturday.
