Three area student-athletes will be recognized Saturday morning for their on-field prowess in addition to their classroom excellence.

Basketball players Chris Arehart from Fairview and Paisley Sheehan from Shining Mountain will be two of 10 Denver metro-area athletes on hand when the Colorado chapter of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) holds its annual Youth Sports Impact Awards breakfast Saturday morning at the University of Denver. Four of the 10 athletes — who were selected for their effort in improving themselves, improving their teammates, and improving their sport as a whole — will receive $1,000 scholarships.

Also being recognized will be Boulder soccer player Jackson McCabe, who has overcome cerebral palsy to excel at his sport.

Among the dignitaries expected to be on hand are former NBA player Keith Van Horne and the CEO of the US Olympic Committee, Scott Blackmun.

The event will be held Saturday morning at 8 a.m. DU’s Ritchie Center.
