The Shining Mountain boys basketball team put together a consistent effort against the Deer Trail Eagles Saturday afternoon, leading to an impressive 47-18 win.

Shining Mountain (4-3) significantly outscored their opponent each quarter to gain an early lead. Senior Avery Sears’ double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds provided an extra push for the Lions win. In addition to Sears’ contribution, junior Luke Feigal also scored double-figures with 13 points.

Like the boys, the lady Lions came out with a victory against Deer Trail, but with a slimmer 38-35 margin. Tied at half, the Lions’ third quarter scoring, as well as the efforts of senior Paisley Sheehan (15 points, 10 rebounds) and junior Rosie Gershman (11 points, four rebounds), made the difference. Katharine Wilson, a junior, also grabbed eight rebounds.

The Shining Mountain boys will host Cornerstone Christian Academy on Tuesday, while the girls will face the Bulldogs on the road. Boys will tip-off at 7:30 p.m., and girls at 6:00 p.m.
