Two prominent graduates of the Longmont High athletics program will play for NCAA national championships on Saturday.

Tambre Nobles (formerly Tambre Haddock) of the Brigham Young volleyball program played a big role in the Cougars’ win against Texas in the national semifinals Thursday, and she will be on the court once again Saturday against Penn State (5:30 MST, ESPN2). Nobles recorded 11 kills, 12 digs and four blocks in the semifinals and ranks third on the BYU team in kills (222) and digs (192).

A 2010 graduate of Longmont, Nobles started for two seasons at the University of Northern Colorado before transferring to BYU.

Another Longmont alum, Scotland Coyle, will start on the offensive line for CSU-Pueblo when the ThunderWolves face Minnesota State in the Division II national championship game (2 p.m., ESPN2). Coyle, a senior, earned first team All-American honors this week.
