A look at the Class 4A state semifinal matchup between Broomfield and Longmont.

Records: Broomfield 9-3; Longmont 9-3.

Last week: Broomfield defeated Montrose 24-20; Longmont defeated Fort Collins 42-35.

Coaches: Broomfield — Gary Davies (27th season, 227-91); Longmont — Doug Johnson (15th season, 109-57).

Quick hits: Both teams stumbled out of the gate but have been terrific down the stretch to set up this state semifinal rematch … Broomfield opened the season with consecutive losses against 5A Legacy and Windsor but has won nine of 10 games since, a streak that began with a 29-11 win at Longmont on Sept. 11 … Longmont began the season 1-3 but enters the semifinals riding an eight-game winning streak … Injuries could be a factor for both teams. Broomfield starting quarterback Logan McCormick suffered a sprained ankle in last week’s quarterfinal win against Montrose, though backup Jack Burgesser came off the bench to lead a stirring fourth-quarter rally. Longmont leading rusher Conlan Berger suffered a fractured wrist last week but could be available for defensive duty … Longmont committed four turnovers in its previous loss against the Eagles … Longmont QB Clint Sigg has gone 24 for 43 in two playoff games with 403 yards, four TD passes, two rushing TDs, and no interceptions … Broomfield senior RB Nate Knowles has rushed for 582 yards over the past five games … The game features two of the top defensive backs in the state in Longmont junior Cooper Rothe and Broomfield senior Shane Wetzel. Rothe shares the overall state lead with nine interceptions. Wetzel is tied for fourth in 4A with six … The winner will play either Falcon or defending 4A champion Pine Creek for the title at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Nov. 29.
