Spencer Lang, Niwot boys tennis: Lang spearheaded the Cougars’ dominating sweep of all seven individual titles are the 4A Region 5 tournament. In a loaded No. 1 singles bracket, the Cougars senior rose above the rest and defeated Peak to Peak’s Zhan Su 6-1, 6-1 in the championship match. Lang enters this weekend’s state tournament undefeated at 10-0.

 

 

Girls

Brittany Goshia, Mead volleyball: It took a balanced effort for the Mavericks to beat Frederick and Berthoud last week and Goshia was at the heart of it all. In a win over Frederick, the senior setter dished out 23 assists to her attackers, four of whom had five or more kills. In a win over Berthoud, which could prove critical in the Mavericks’ drive toward winning the Tri-Valley League title, Goshia set up five different players for five or more kills on 24 assists. Goshia had five kills of her own against Frederick and seven kills against Berthoud.
