Kap Smith, Boulder boys tennis: The Panthers freshman continued his first-year tear by claiming a top seed out of the out of 5A Region 8. Defeating Heritage’s Skyler Gates 6-3, 6-1 in the championship match at No. 1 singles, Smith brought home a regional title for the Panthers. With the state tournament this weekend, Smith enters with an 8-3 record from the regular season.




Dana Dwyer, Silver Creek softball: In two wins over local opponents last week, Dwyer was the player who turned the tide as the Raptors finished their run to the Northern League crown. In a 10-0 win over Boulder, Dwyer went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and four RBIs, all while pitching five shutout innings. In a 22-8 win over Centaurus, Dwyer went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and four more RBIs. She is currently leading the team with a .532 batting average.
