• Mead's Oskari Peltonen

  • Niwot's Brooklynn Delozier

Oskari Peltonen, Mead boys soccer: Cleaning up the mess on a corner kick, the junior scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over Sterling and earned the Mavericks the first win in the new boys soccer program’s history. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, teammate Valera Weber tied the game before Peltonen, an exchange student from Finland, won it. It was the first goal of Peltonen’s Mavericks soccer career.

Brooklynn DeLozier, Niwot softball: Off to an incredible .645 start in the leadoff spot for the Cougars, the junior has paced her team to an early 5-2-1 record. During a jam-packed six-game stretch last week, Delozier batted .682 with five home runs, three doubles and seven RBIs. She currently leads the Cougars, who average 12 runs per game, with six home runs.
