The Boulder Stars club softball program has reached the championship gold bracket of the Triple Crown World Series in San Diego.
The Stars opened pool play with a late two-run inside-the-park home run against the Sacramento-based Capital City Comets, taking advantage of five scoreless innings of relief thrown by Holy Family’s Macy Cox and Silver Creek’s Marisa Yost.
After suffering a loss in the their second game, the Stars were able to bounce back with a pair of wins to complete pool play with a 3-1 mark. Maddie Siemer led a 6-1 win against San Diego Relentless by throwing a three-hitter, and Cox was even better in the pool play finale, notching a two-hit victory against SV Thunder from Washington State.
The Stars begin bracket play Thursday morning.
