It has hardly taken any time at all for Valarie Allman to dominate the collegiate ranks as she very recently dominated the Colorado high school scene.
Allman, a 2013 graduate of Silver Creek, was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for her rookie-year exploits with the Stanford track and field team.
The standout discus thrower managed to make history in her very first NCAA meet, posting a throw of 187 feet, 7 inches that broke a 28-year old Stanford freshman record. Allman was one of only two freshmen in the nation to qualify for the NCAA championships, where she finished 21st overall.
Allman’s season-opening 187-7 mark ranks as the 16th-best distance recorded by all U.S. women throwers in 2014.
Allman finished second at the Pac-12 championships.
