    Monarch's Claire Green

Ryan Kokora, Fairview baseball: The Knights hit the road for four games over spring break, which meant pitching needed to be at its best. Kokora certainly has been so far in 2014, having yet to allow one run to cross the plate while on the hill in 11 innings. Last week, he collected two wins against out-of-state competition, combining with two others to no-hit Farmington, N.M., 7-0, on March 29. In that game, he struck out seven of the 10 batters he faced.

Claire Green, Monarch track: It came as no shock that Green paced the field in the 800-meter run at the Longmont Invitational, and it may not surprise too many that she set a state season-best with her time of 2 minutes, 12.66 seconds. At the Longmont meet, that was nearly three and a half seconds faster than second place. She also ran on Monarch’s 1,600 relay team that finished third behind Fairview and Niwot.
