    Holy Family's Lindsey Chavez

David Sommers, Holy Family basketball: What a fantastic week it was for the Holy Family basketball team, and for Sommers, the finale couldn’t have been any more perfect. After being held to just two points in the Class 3A semifinal against C.S. Christian (he did have five assists), Sommers exploded for 24 points, four rebounds and three steals in the Tigers’ 53-52, title-clinching victory over Colorado Academy. Sommers shot 9-for-19 in the game including a pair of 3-pointers, helping HFHS to its first boys hoops title since 1998.

Lindsey Chavez, Holy Family basketball: The Tigers girls continued their dynasty-like run this past Saturday by beating Pagosa Springs for the Class 3A state title, and Chavez was right at the heart of the HF attack in the championship game. She made just three field goals but earned 12 free throws, making 10 of them to finish with a game-most 19 points. In the three games at Clune Arena, Chavez averaged 16.3 points, and she was recently named Metro League Senior of the Year.
