Alex Therrien, Frederick : Therrien, a scoring machine for the Warriors, finished a fine senior season by helping FHS to its first playoff win under coach Larry Frank, then went on to post a 30-point game in a loss to Denver West. It wasn’t easy for anyone in the first round against Skyview (a 46-31 final), but Therrien notched 13 points in that victory. He followed that up with 32 points, including seven 3-pointers, in a high-scoring setback to the Cowboys. Therrien finished with a 15.6 scoring average, putting him in the top 30 in Class 4A.
Sydney Wetterstrom, Longmont basketball: The Trojans’ season came to an end at the hands of undefeated Mesa Ridge, but Wetterstrom had herself a nice two-game line in the postseason to match what she has put up the entire year. In a win against Berthoud, the sophomore posted 26 points and 14 rebounds — her 15th double-double — then continued her post domination with 17 points and 14 rebounds against the top-seeded Grizzlies. For the season, Wetterstrom finished in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding.
