Silver Creek’s Jordan Carter

Boys

Kyle Couch, Mead wrestling: Couch will always be known as a pioneer of sorts for Mead wrestling, having been the Mavericks’ first state placer and first state champ last year. His senior year was even better, and on Saturday he won for the 165th time, defeating Discovery Canyon’s David Traynor in the 195-pound title match at the Pepsi Center to complete a historic repeat run at state.

Girls

Jordan Carter, Silver Creek basketball: Silver Creek earned a No. 3 seed in the Class 4A state tournament in part because of a huge win against Longmont to end the season, and Carter played a pivotal role in the Raptors’ 2-0 week. The sophomore notched her fourth and fifth consecutive double-digit scoring games against Mountain View (15 points) and Longmont (12), shooting 13 for 21 from the floor. She also grabbed 13 total rebounds and had three blocked shots.
