Jon Hickman, Lyons wrestling : Just a sophomore, the Lions’ Hickman is going to state again after claiming the Class 2A Region 3 title at 170 pounds. In a fitting way, he punched his ticket to state by fall, taking down Brandon Anderson of Sedgwick County in 3 minutes, 36 seconds of his final bout Saturday. In doing so, Hickman improved to 31-4 on the season and will head to the Pepsi Center with high hopes.

Hannah Driscoll, Niwot swimming: Driscoll capped a phenomenal season with two second-place finishes at the Class 4A state meet in Fort Collins this past week, falling literally three-quarters of a second short of winning a pair of gold medals. The Cougars’ top sprinter swam the 50 free in 23.90 seconds, followed by a time of 1:04.22 in the 100 breaststroke. The senior’s final state meet was made more memorable as she was named 4A swimmer of the year.
