Sage Budd, Mead wrestling — Budd put together a string of victories that rivaled anyone Saturday at the Maverick duals, going 5-0 with four pins to improve his season record to 18-1. Wrestling at 120 pounds, Budd pinned Mathew Ybarra (Columbine), Erich Russ (Eaton), Riley Prough (Glenwood) and Trevor Wilch (Lewis-Palmer) in a combined 11:42. Mead went 4-1 in the dual tournament as a team.
Girls
Serena Gudino, Erie basketball — With Gudino primarily leading the Tigers’ offense, Erie has gotten hot with three straight wins, most recently Tuesday night against Frederick. The team went 2-1 the week before, and Gudino hit double digits in every game, pouring in 15, 17 and 13 points against Northridge (L), Roosevelt (W) and Fort Lupton (W). Her 14.6 scoring average puts her in the top 25 in Class 4A.
