GARRETT TURNER, Boulder basketball — Turner and the Panthers finished off the non-league portion of their schedule with a 6-2 mark, returning from the holiday break with a hard-fought victory against Prairie View this past Saturday. The junior guard led the way with 29 points, connecting for 19 of those in the first half alone. In the fourth quarter, Turner’s free throw shooting paved the way to victory against the ThunderHawks. Turner, who leads the team with a 16.9 scoring average, also was credited with four rebounds, three assists and two steals in that affair.

CALLIE KAISER, Broomfield basketball — While most teams only played one game last week in their return from the holidays, the Eagles were stacked on Friday night and Saturday afternoon with contests against Class 5A teams Brighton and ThunderRidge. Both opponents proved to be no match, and Kaiser proved to be a force just like usual. Against Brighton, she posted 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting, then hit 8 of 11 shots for 24 points in a huge victory against the Grizzlies. Kaiser also hauled in 10 rebounds in Saturday’s game while totaling five assists and five steals in the two games.
