MILES MACKENZIE, Fairview basketball — MacKenzie and the Knights got the unique chance to participate in the first-ever KSA Beach Bash held in the Bahamas, and he did more than just soak up some sun. The senior captain averaged 13.0 points per game as FHS went 3-0 against teams from Kentucky, Canada and Louisiana. His best game was a 19-point effort against Mercer County (Ky.) to open the winning stretch.

BRI WILBER, Broomfield basketball — The senior guard for the Eagles helped pace two solid wins to start the season, shooting 50 percent from the floor in wins against Legacy and Evergreen. She scored 14 points against the Lightning in the opener and followed that up with 11 against the Cougars. She also contributed two rebounds, four assists and a steal against LHS.
