Rooney: Boulder contingent leads soccer all-state selections

Boulder senior Mason Douillard was named the Class 5A Player of the Year in a vote by the state’s coaches association.


After returning to the Class 5A Final Four one year after claiming the program’s first state title, the Boulder Panthers were well-represented in the 2013 boys soccer all-state selections.

In a vote by the Colorado High School Coaches Association held annually during the state championship weekend, Boulder senior Mason Douillard led all 5A vote-getters to earn Player of the Year honors. Teammate Javier Castruita also was a first-team selection. Boulder’s Matteo Wilczak and Fairview’s Zac Lokay were named to the 5A second team while Broomfield’s Porter Milner and Niwot’s Danny Witt both received first team all-state honors in Class 4A.

Here is a complete look at local selections in the all-state voting. Players are listed in order of votes received.


First team: Mason Douillard, Boulder; Javier Castruita, Boulder.

Second team: Matteo Wilczak, Boulder; Zac Lokay, Fairview.

Honorable mention: Henry Huettel, Boulder; Alan Scheuermann, Fairview.


First team: Porter Milner, Broomfield; Danny Witt, Niwot.

Second team: Cameron Guzman, Silver Creek; Ben Gibble, Broomfield.

Honorable mention: Jesus Cervantes, Skyline; Eric Spangler, Centaurus; Dare Murray, Silver Creek.


Second team: Patrick Borer, Holy Family.

Honorable mention: Ben Pagal, Peak to Peak.
